How can you take Google’s alleged crusade against paid links seriously when you see Adwords listings like this one?

Totally agree – I am fed up with Google selling AdWords ads to scum like this. It’s just like the “free page counter” sites that install hidden links to insurance company, legal web sites, which generate thousands of crappy back links in a totally black hat way. Ultimately Google is just in business to make money and make their own rules. It’s not in their financial interest to boot such advertisers. When I confronted Matt Cutts about this kind of crap, it was to point out how sites end up high in Google results.

His reply was that such sites have “other ‘good’ SEO”. He never addressed the fact that Google is doing it for the income, or that they’re working on eliminating such ads. Because they’re not now nor will they ever ban them.

Thanks for the comment, Alan!

Totally agree. It’s always fun to find visual evidence that completely discredits their FUD campaign against paid links for SEO.
